These stunning crater lakes are close to area called Laki with many beautiful craters including Tjarnargígur. The mountain directly behind these crater lakes is called Stakafell. This beautiful area is next to the very large glacier river of Skaftá. Across the river are the mountains of Fögrufjöll and the tall mountain of Breiðbakur in the background with the large lake of Langisjór in between them. Down river is the famous Sveinstindur mountain, very popular hiking location. A short distance down river are many lakes with beautiful green colors called Lyngfellsgígar. A little further down river the stunning mountain of Uxatindar with its beautiful lake in front.
