Valahnúkur hike is a must if you plan on spending any time in Þórsmörk. It is a relatively short hike and you are treated to panoramic views of the entire Þórsmörk valley. Signs along the way will lead you all the way to the summit. At the summit the view is incredible. Sprawling out in every direction are glaciers, volcanoes, moss carpeted cliffs, and braided glacial rivers. The mighty Eyjafjallajokull volcano rises to the south, as the huge Myrdalsjokull volcano takes up most of the horizon to the east. The green mountains and cliffs stand in surreal contrast to the glaciers and rivers below.
