The Sveinstindur hut was previously used by farmers when gathering their sheep from the highlands, but members of Útivist rebuilt it some years ago. The old walls of stone were used, and the cultural Icelandic building tradition kept. The rebuilding was a success, and the hut harmonizes with the beautiful nature. Skaftá river runs past the hut, and all around grows especially green moss.
