Múlagljúfur all seasons in a day

The river Múlaá is fed by the melting water of the Öræfajökull. Öræfajökull is an ice-covered volcano, at the southern extremity of the Vatnajökull glacier and overlooking the Ring Road between Höfn and Vík. It is the largest active volcano in the country and on the summit crater’s north-western rim is Hvannadalshnúkur, the highest peak in Iceland at 2,110 meters. Geographically Öræfajökull is considered part of Vatnajökull and the area covered by glacier is within the boundary of Vatnajökull National Park.

Múlafoss on the left has a single drop of about 50 meters but upstream the river is cascading for another 70 meters. The waterfall on the right, Hangandifoss, is 110 meters high.
